Omega General Help / A/C and Vacum Leak... I think??
« on: 26 February 2009, 16:39:49 »
Hi,

My 2001 Omega Exec 3.2 V6 has sprung a leak! It's coming from the front left under the Battery tray. It's a very small leak and is bright green in Colour, I'm almost positive it's not Coolant because my mixture isn't as concentrated as that.

I took a few bits apart and traced it to a little metallic silver box connected to what I think are A/C pipes (i'm no mechanic BTW). The picture gives the location:

Any idea what it is and if I can fix it myself?

Next thing, Vacum leak. In the below picture are some vacum pipes that I found hanging with a bolt stuck in to stop the air coming in/out. Any idea what that is?

Thanks and appreciate any help.
p.s. car is LHD, if that makes any difference.

I noticed after a short journey yesterday in my V6 the same sort of noise. I wouldn't say it sounded like a deisel but almost like a squeaky rattle coming from the top/front of the head. I recently had my Timing belt done so unless it's been a shady job...  :-/

What I think it might be, for me anyway, is the fan belt like in the previous thread. My engine bay was cleaned and then covered in WD40 (they do that after a service out here) so I think the belts are sqeaking. I'm going to try remove the fan belt to see if the noise dissapears.

If you try it let is know of your findings.

Brilliant, that's much clearer now. I'll ceck it out.

Thanks again,

Ok guys, i'm confused.

Is the Feild/vision message because of a HID levelling failure or suspension levelling failure or both or neither? done a search on HID's but only found out how hard it is to retro fit them!

I need to get under the car and check the suspension but i've had similar problems before with the pulling in other cars - leading to faulty bushes. As for the temp reading, come to think of it there is a cut wire hanging from under the front bumper, could be for the temp sensor... i'll check it out.

Thanks again for your help but clarification on the above would be helpful, especially with a couple of pics!  :y

Outside temperature? The sensor sits in the middle of the front bumper underneath. You can find a picture on here somewhere if you search.

Field/vision is one of the left hand side level sensors front wishbone & rear radius arm. Can be as simple as the arm having come off or the sensor is goosed.  :y

Can you elaborate a little more on this? I've noticed the car pulling under breaking and acceleration, along with a little knock when turning the wheel at low speeds. I've put this down to front left wishbone bushes or droplinks which i've heard is common. Any checks you recommend I do for this?

thanks, Geo

Omega General Help / Re: I GOT CODES!! 2001 Omega executive v6

I got the 0120 and 0220 codes after I replaced my timing belt - turns out I hadn't re-fitted all the vacumn connections fully. I still get those codes after 30+ restarts, although the car runs fine, so I'd guess yours are a hangover from the misfires.

As said before, get 'em reset then see what is left!

I take it you need a techII to reset the codes?

Timing belt was replaced also, the job was done by an independant mechanic who I know for a fact is not into reseting codes. So I need to find a special tool to reset? What about the vacumn connections, are you talking rubber connections in general or something specific?

Thanks again.

Omega General Help / I GOT CODES!! 2001 Omega executive v6
« on: 04 January 2009, 08:04:33 »
Hi guys,

Not sure what happened to my original post but I reported some problems and you guys told me to check my codes using the pedal method. Anyway, I reported rough idleing and misfire followed by poor performance when I accelarated hard. I gave the car to my mechanic and he told me he had to replace the coil pack. It seems to be a bit smoother but the gear shifting is terrible, it doesn't seem to know when to shift up or down. Anyway, here's my codes:

0300
0302
0303
0306
0120
0220
1111
1600
1204

They all point toward the probs I had apart from the last one, I might have got that wrong, my eyes started to glaze over by that point!

Let me know what you think, coil pack fix the problem? or is there more issues? Like I said, gear shifting seems to be the only real prob now.

Omega General Help / Rough cold idle and engine light on
« on: 27 December 2008, 18:05:30 »
Hi,

I'm a newbie to Vauxhall never mind the omega so you'll prob here from me a lot here. I've already introduced myself in the Newbie section so lets get down to business...

Just bought a 3.2 V6 Omega and had it fully serviced, timing belt changed before starting to drive it. Since i've got the car back i've noticed rough idling from a cold start, moves up to 900rpm then drops to 450rpm etc. Even when warm the car shakes a little. Then I took it for a drive, put on the "S" button (AUTO TRANNY), floored it just to feel the kick down, and at about 4500rpm the engine hesitated and engine light flashed for about 10 secs and then remained solid. The car then limped, nearly cutting out untill I turned the engine off. Started back up and the light disapeared, engine back to normal.

I know I should take it back to where I ahd the work done, but to be honest i'm in Dubai and I made the mistake of doing it on the cheap - so i'll probably get told it's something else and cost me more money.

Is it likely to be anything timing belt related? I'm a little concerned incase i'm damaging the engine.

Let me know your thoughts,

Geo

Newbie Welcome Area / Newbie from the Middle East!!

New member from the Middle East just saying hello.

Just bought a 2001 Omega executive 3.2 V6, loads of options - overall quite an impressive big wagon!

I bought the car off a friend for a good price, it's only done 75,000km with FSH. Having a few issues at the moment which are concerning me, so head over to the Tech section and help me out!

Hope to get quite involved in the forum if I have time, maybe find some other Owners out here in the ME. Is there no DIY pictorials on here? Things for the common probs like drop links, wishbones, windows etc.

Season greeting by the way!

Geo
