:)Thanks to everyone that has given input on my idling problem, it now seems to be sorted. After stripping it all apart again this morning and taking extra care when putting it all back together, cleaning everything again with even more care. including all electrics & pipes.
My not so little beauty is purring like never before. Thanks again you guys are ace!

Blimey you had me really thinking then, yes I did clean them out & one of them was a bit split on the end & thick with hard crud. I cut that bit off before reassembling the pipes. Thanks for the post anyway.

ok icv is now totalo rigid, but probs still there. how do you clean the icv, do you have to take it apart?

1, ok I have just glansed at the manual and I am presuming that the (ICV) is what they are refering to as (idle speed adjuster valve) do you take this apart or is it just a liberal squirtig of wd40 from all directions.

2, No there is no unusual lights on within the dash.

3, I took extream care both times to make sure that everything went on exactly as it came off, and that all seals were not moved when reseating the plenum

4, I am not sure about the security of the (ICV) in the sde of the plenum, it seem quite lose,is that right.

flippin eck that was quick, thanks will do ;)

Omega General Help / idle speeds gone loopy after cleaning b/system
« on: 09 December 2006, 20:11:29 »
Hi Guys I recently bought me a p reg 2.5 V6 Omega, I love the car :) just hate the price of any jobs that need to be done. So I thought I would dust off my overalls & have a go myself, silly really as all I have is half a toolkit and a piece of cack book (Haynes manual) :-[ is it me or do you need to be a professor to understand it.
Anyway I am in a pickle, I am just praying one of you knowledgably dudes can tell me where I have gone wrong.  ;)
I decided to have a go at cleaning the breather system out on my V6, now I wish I hadn’t.
I took off that big lump of aluminum that’s sat on top of the engine, which holds the black box with the eco tech marked on it. I took the two pieces apart and cleaned them both out, good job done, enough cack there to fill a Haynes manual. Anyway I fitted the new seals put all the pipes back on, reconnected all the electrical cables & ancillary parts plus fuel pipes, and looked at the engine with anticipation for a moment or two before inserting the key & turning it. Wey! Hey! Excellent, we have lift off; this is at the point where everything goes wrong. The engine no longer always only idles at 500rpm it will also idles at 1000rpm plus it also likes to rev between1500rpm & 2000rpm if I touch the throttle it will either react as one might expect or rev like a Looney or cut out after I take my foot off the gas. I thought I must have missed something so I took it all apart again & put it back together for a second time, it is still reacting the same way. WHATS HAVE I DONE, HELP!!!!! :'(

Regards Dave
