Hi all,

My 2.2dti (2002) has develpoed a problem!

The computor says there is a problem with the signal being sent from the ECU to the fuel pump. I'm guessing this means a new ECU.

Does anyone know what kind of money this would be? and could it be a fuel pump issue?

If it is to much money it probably means it is a trip to the scrap man followed by the auction. Shame as it is a really good car apart from this.

Any advise would be appreciated

In the last couple of weeks a strange thing has started happening to my 02 2.2dti.

When I'm sitting at the lights with the clutch dipped the engine will suddenly rev itself. it only revs to about 2500rpm for a second or so and then it goes back to normal. It has done this 3 or 4 times.

Then today, after it had reved the emissions light came on and the car would drive properly. It limped along at about 1500rpm and if I tried to go faster clouds of smoke came out the back!!

I turned the car off for an hour and then it has run perfectly all afternoon.

What is going on? anybody got any ideas?

I have taken it to my mechanic but he says nothing will show up on the ngine management as no lights are on on the dash board.

Does the Power Sounder have batteries in it that can be replaced or does the whole unit need changing?

This is a really weird one! 

My 2.2DTi Est (02 plate) has started to emit 3 beeps from the off side of the engine bay when the ignition is turned off. I have had the car for 18mths and it has never happened until 2 weeks ago. It doesn't happen every time, only about 50% of the time.

Has anyone got the faintest idea what it is?

Thanks for the responses all. 

In answer - no, it doesn't do it when the car is stationary.

Yes, it is when the revs are below 2.5k. I'll try cleaning the bits you suggest and see what happens. The problem isn't bad so I'll do the easy stuff first!

And yes it did need a bit of clearing out - went to overtake someone on a quiet Norfolk road, stuck it in 3rd and floored it! I don't know where the other car went as when I looked in the mirror he had disappeared in the cloud of smoke!!

Hi all, I've got a small problem with my 2.2DTi Est (52 plate).

It drives great just about the whole time except for when I am cruising at about 45 - 55 mph. If I am light on the accelerator I get a splutter when I lift off.

It doesn't happen if I'm heavy footed or on Cruise control!

Any diesel experts who can tell me where to start looking  :-/

Just read on another forum (sorry!!) that the 'F' stands for freezing!

Can that be right as the temp gauge normally goes well below 0?

Thanks - found it.

No snow but is quite wet - shouldn't cause a problem as it must get wet everytime it rains!

do I take it that the only way to check it works is to change it?

Hi all, I have a problem with my outside Temp. gauge.
Since it started snowing it just reads 'F' where the number should be. The climate control has gone nuts (currently set to 27 degrees just to get some warm air!)

Does the F simply mean fault? and where is the sensor on a 52 plate Est?

For the last month or so my sunroof has been opening and closing on it's own!

It only opens to the 1st tilt position for about 5secs then shuts  again. I put it down to the air con not working and the climate control trying to compensate, but I've had the air con fixed and it's still doing it. Only does it once every other day or so.

Anyone got any ideas or is my car haunted

Oh, it's a 2.2DTi on a 52 plate
