Thanks for all the various bits of advice....
that little lot should keep me busy at the weekend... :y

hi, i have an omega elite, 3.0litre estate auto.
the battery constantly dies overnight, yet when the car is jumpstarted, it will stop and start fine...all day.
but once its parked up and left overnight the batteries dead again.
i'm sure everythings switched off....is there anything that may be causing it component wise...?
the battery was put on a rover the other day, and has been fine...i've put it back on the omega, and connected it up, and its dead again today...
there is a thick red cable going to the battery, that looks like its been damaged at some point, and connected to the battery, with just the battery clamp, wedging it underneath it...? any ideas..(no comedians please..i'm already married..!)

Omega General Help / Re: omega gearbox
« on: 07 August 2009, 21:21:02 »
hi, i used to have a 2.5td that did the same thing.
i bought an ar35 gearbox out of a 3 litre petrol car, take your existing gearbox out..leaving the torque converter on the car then just changed the bell housings, and replace the new gearbox into the car. but make sure you use your existing torque converter, as its the one made for the bmw engine.
the ar35's are a better gearbox, more suitable, for handling the bmw's torque.....and obviously the bigger vauxhall engines. i'm new on here, but.....
i hope this helps...

hi Cav, i'm new on here, and own a 3 lire auto estate, with the aircon...
i see you have the normal radiator.
Mines shot to bits, and i'm wandering if yours is the same one, as they put so many different rads in these cars.
its the normal engine cooling rad i'm after...the one that sits just in front of the actual engine, and not the one, that is nearer to the front grill. the number on the actual rad, is DG52463050
you've got it up for £30, which is fine. If your sure its a good one Cav, then could you let me know how much it is...including 'safe' delivery.
All the best Cav...

Stan.

hi, i don't suppose you still have the radiator do you.
my omega elite has the silly 2 radiator set up, but the one at the very front of the car, is for the air-con, but thats ok.
the one i need, is the normal engine cooling rad, that sits just in front of the engine itself.
the part number on the silver tag, by the pipes, on the drivers side is: DG 52463050.
MY MOB NUMBER IS 07506191900, OR LEAVE ME A REPLY HERE, AND I WILL EITHER COME AND GET IT , OR PAY FOR IT, AND ARRANGE A COLLECTION. UNLES, YOU CAN ARRANGE A DELIVERY FROM YOUR END, AND TELL ME HOW MUCH ALLTOGETHER.  THANKS. :y

General Car Chat / CLARIFYING & CLEARING UP SOME GOSSIP....!
« on: 05 October 2009, 21:10:07 »
HI, I'M A RECENT MEMBER OF THIS SITE, WHICH I TRY NOT TO  SEE AS JUST, A BUY/SELL, OR SWAP SHOP, BUT AS A PLACE TO COME,  FOR ANY HELP AND ADVICE, AS I GENUINELY FEEL THERE ARE A LOT OF KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE HERE, THAT ARE ONLY TOO KEEN TO HELP SOMEONE LIKE MYSELF, AND OBVUIOUSLY KIND ENEOUGH, TO GO OUT OF THEIR WAY, TO KEEP ANOTHER MEMBER, EITHER FROM SPENDING MONEY UNNECCESSARILY, OR OFFER & PROVIDE, SENSIBLY PRICED REPAIRS OR PARTS.
THE REASON FOR THIS MESSAGE, IS THAT LAST WEEK, I PUT MY OMEGA ESTATE ON EBAY, DESCRIBING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS WRONG WITH IT, AND I ALSO MENTIONED, THAT ONE OF THE PROBLEMS, WAS A KNACKERED RADIATOR.
I STATED IN THE AUCTION, THAT I'D ALREADY PURCHASED A RADIATOR FROM SOMEONE ON AN OMEGA SITE, AND THAT IT TOO WAS FOUND TO BE DAMAGED, WHEN I WENT TO PUT IT IN THE CAR.
I HAD QUITE A FEW EBAY MESSAGES ABOUT THE CAR....
ONE MESSAGE FROM A VERY KIND CHAP CALLED ALBS, WHO SEEMED CONCERNED ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT RADIATOR, AND HOPED I HADN'T BEEN SCAMMED BY WHOEVER I BOUGHT IT OFF...'HE SEEMS A VERY GENUINE BLOKE, AND I WAS GRATEFUL, FOR HIS CONCERN'.
I CLARIFIED IN MY REPLY TO ALBS, THAT THE PERSON I BOUGHT THE RADIATOR OFF, 'DARTH LOO-KNEE' DIDN'T SCAM ME, OR STITCH ME UP, HE EVEN OFFERED TO FIND, AND SEND ME A REPLACEMENT A.S.A.P.
BUT I DECLINED, AS ON CLOSE EXAMINATION OF THE RADIATOR, I BELEVE, IT WAS DAMAGED, IN BETWEEN THE TIME, IT LEFT 'DARTHS' PLACE, AND WHILE IT WAS BEING TRANSPORTED TO MINE...!
EVEN WHEN I FOUND THE DAMAGE, AND PHONED, DARTH TO TELL HIM I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS HIS FAULT,  HE STILL OFFERED TO REPLACE IT, AND EVEN OFFERED ME A FULL REFUND,  BUT I SAID NO..! AS AFTER SPEAKING TO HIM, IT WAS OBVIOUS A GENUINE UNDAMAGED RADIATOR, WHICH HE SPENT TIME AND MONEY REMOVING, AND FLUSHING OUT, IS WHAT HE HAD SENT ME. THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED DURING DELIVERY, AND NOT BY HIM.
I'VE FOUND DARTH LOO-KNEE, TO BE NOT ONLY FRIENDLY, POLITE, & HELPFULL, BUT I WILL CERTAINLY BE HAPPY TO PURCHASE PARTS, OR REPAIRS FROM HIM, AS AND WHEN THE NEED ARISES. AND THE SAME GOES FOR ALBS, ANOTHER RESPECTABLE MEMBER OF THIS SITE......
NOW FOR THE SHITTY BIT...!
ALONG WITH THE MAILS I GOT ON EBAY, SOME idiot, THAT CLAIMED HE WAS OFF HERE....SENT ME A MESSAGE, RANTING ON ABOUT FEEDBACKS, AND CLAIMING I'D ONLY PAID £83 FOR MY OMEGA ELITE ESTATE, AS HE SAID, THAT HE'D READ THE WINNING BID OR SOMETHING.
I REPLIED, AND POINTED OUT, THAT THE CARS OWNER, AND MYSELF HAD DONE A DEAL, ON THE DAY I VIEWED THE CAR, AND THAT HE HIMSELF STOPPED THE BIDDING AT WHATEVER IT WAS, AS THE CAR WAS ALREADY SOLD. HE TOLD ME WHEN I COLLECTED IT, HE'D PUT LOADS OF PEOPLE OFF, AND SOME WERE A BIT PISSED OFF...'TOUGH'
I THOUGHT THAT WAS FINE, AND EVEN OFFERED THE PREVIOUS OWNERS DETAILS, SO THAT HE COULD CHECK IN CASE IT AFFECTED HIS DECISION WHILE BIDDING ON THE CAR.
HE OBVIOUSLY SAW THE AD WHILE THE BIDDING WAS STILL GOING ON......
THEN I GOT A REPLY WITH SOME MORE SARCASM, AND REMARKS, WHICH I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND, AS WHEN I CHECKED THE BIDDERS LIST FOR THE CAR ON EBAY....
HIS NAME WASN'T EVEN ON IT.......
SO WHEVER YOU ARE.....2 THINGS.
1) IF YOU'VE NOTHING BETTER TO DO, THAN SLAG SOMEONE OFF BY EMAIL, WITHOUT HAVING opps ALL TO DO WITH THE AUCTION, APART FROM OF COURSE, YOUR ABILITY TO READ THE oppsING ADS, THEN LEAVE WELL ALONE.....IF YOUR THAT STUCK FOR SOMEONE TO BITCH ABOUT, I'LL GIVE YOU MY EX-WIFES DETAILS......
YOU'LL BOTH BE VERY HAPPY, AS SHE WAS ANOTHER idiot, THAT SPENT ALL HER SPARE TIME SLAGGING OFF PEOPLE SHE KNEW opps ALL ABOUT.....!
SHIT....! I'LL EVEN PAY FOR YOUR HONEYMOON.....!
IT WOULD BE A PLEASURE WAVING YOU BOTH OFF...!
2) MY DAD TAUGHT ME, TO TRY AND BE FAIR TO EVERYONE, AND NOT JUDGE PEOPLE ON FIRST MEETINGS, OR APPEARANCE, AND HELP WHEREVER, AND WHENEVER I WAS NEEDED......
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY...
HE TOLD ME, NEVER TO FALL OUT WITH ANYONE, UNLESS I KNEW I WAS IN THE RIGHT, AND HE ALSO SAID, BEFORE YOU GO FALLING OUT WITH ANYONE, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT SORT OF PERSON YOUR DEALING WITH, AND EVEN IF YOU CAN'T ALWAYS PICK YOUR BATTLES, YOU CAN USUALLY PICK YOUR BATTLEFIELD.
THEN IF YOU HAVE TO FIGHT....DON'T JUST FIGHT.......
WIN....!!
SO IF THE idiot WHO SENT ME THOSE SARCASTIC EMAILS, IS ON HERE, AND YOUR READING THIS....THEN AN APOLOGY WILL BE FINE, AND WE'LL PUT IT DOWN TO EXPERIENCE.....
IF ON THE OTHER HAND, THE EMAIL CAME FROM SOMEONE THAT JUST CLAIMED TO BE OFF HERE...
THEN MY APOLOGESE TO THE REST OF THE SITE, AS UP UNTIL THIS INCIDENT, I HAVE HAD THE GREATEST RESPECT, FOR THE SITE, AND THOSE ON IT. I'VE HAD GOOD HELP FROM DECENT PEOPLE.
AND I HOPE IT CONTINUES.....
THAT'S MY LOT....BYE.

hi again, ....
being thick as a post, i don't know where to place my reply to you, so that the rest of the site can read it.
i'd like this cleared up asap, but i'm still fairly new, and haven't figured out all the ways to place everything where it needs to go....
so , at the risk of being cheeky, would you be able to do this for me....if you do, then thanks alot, but should you decide not to, then i'll completely understand.
thanks either way.

hi omega knight, firstly, sorry if the ad read like i was implying the radiator was sold to me as deliberately broke, by a forum member....
PLEASE LET ME CLARIFY THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE, and the person that sold me the radiator, offered me an immediate refund, or replace it for me, as soon as he had one.
I DECLINED HIS OFFER, AS WHEN I PHONED HIM, TO TELL HIM HOW IT HAD ARRIVED, WITH A HAIRLINE CRACK ACROSS THE TOP HOSE CONNECTION..... ON FURTHER EXAMINATION, IT WAS OBVIOUS, THAT THE DAMAGE MUST HAVE BEEN CAUSED DURING THE DELIVERY HANDLING PROCESS. THE DAMAGE WAS CLEAN, WITH NO CRAP IN IT, AND THE SELLER HAD GONE TO THE TROUBLE TO CLEAN IT ALL OUT, AND FLUSH IT, BUT THERE WAS NO RESIDUE, OR MUCK IN THE CRACK OR ANYWHERE NEAR THE DAMAGED AREA. SO I DIDN'T THINK IT FAIR TO CLAIM A REFUND, AS HE HAD DEFINITELY PROVIDED, WHAT I NOW KNOW, TO BE A VERY FAIRLY PRICED, GENUINE PART.
I'M NOT GOING TO BLAME SOMEONE, FOR DAMAGE, THAT I'M SURE, THEY WEREN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR.
To the sellers credit...he still offered to source a replacement free of charge, even after i told him, that i didn't beleive the damage was caused by, or known to him.
he sincerely was trying to help me out of a spot, and i can tell, just by reading alot of the styff on here, that this is a site, with a lot of good, helpfull, honest, and knowledgeable owners.
i'd happily buy from this site, and certainly everyone, i've had stuff before from, and especially, the seller, that sold me the radiator. i've spoken to him recently, and there's no problems between us, and everythings still sound.
if it wasn't for the silly bloke, that sent me that batch of sarcastic emails, claiming he was off here, this whole thing, would have been put to bed, with out notice.
in my haste to advertise the car that night. you'll see it was late, when it was posted, i didn't think, that mentioning the site, was going to cast any negative aspertions at all, as i only mentioned, where the rad came from. everyone that phoned about the car, or messaged me, was told exactly what i've said here. but i understand and appreciate your concern, and I appologise, if the ad offended anyone.
this is a great site, with a good bunch of people on it.
i hope this will fade into nothing, and hope that in time, the site will realise, that i am realy quite genuine...but i will certainly choose the contents of any future ads more carefully.
i hope this clears things up.
i left a message aimed at the sarcastic seller, in case he realy was from this site, all my contact info's in it, to give him the chance to either explain himself, or apologise....but i've not heard zip..!
so now...I realy don't beleive he was off here. i think my car, happened to be an omega...he'd obviusly seen the site mentioned somewhere on the internet, ....
and decided, to fill his time winging about nothing. he needs therapy..!
so i hope this clears things up... :-[
