Mines a manual I get 26mpg around town that being a dive into London down M1 and around the A406 to Hanger Lane in the morning rush. Those that know this route know what it's likeOk thanks will do tomorrow![]()
at the best of times.
As you say you are driving steady 15mpg that you're getting is low in my opinion something isn't right. Check the air filter, all air/fuel/water sensors and make sure the plug wells aren't full of oil this causes shorting and increased fuel consumption also check your brakes aren't binding.
MPG is also dependant on your right footNo that was actually nearly hearse drivingif you hammer it 15mpg is certainly possible. I get an avarage of 32mpg with a mix of town, B roads and M way but I dont hammer it off the lights or loads of over taking.
Something isnt right, i get 24 around town and low 30s on a run in my 3.0.I hope not! i will check those things tomorrow thanks i'll let you know what i find
Would check the easy stuff - air filter, tyre pressures first, if you can take a plug out it would be easy to tell if its running rich as it will be black and sooty.
You sure no one is nicking your petrol?
YeahQuoteSo does around 15mpg sound right for one of these around town then?
Is it an Auto?
Where are you located?I'm in Ireland at the moment
Is it getting up to temp?No leaks, brakes ok, dunno about valve timing, dunno about ignition sys, temp seems ok i mean the car seems fine to me although i'm no expert so that's not to say there ain't a problem but it really does seem ok apart from the MPG
Valve timing correct?
Ignition system in good order?
Brakes Binding?
Leak?
I think he means "SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED"Quoteswmbo ? sorry... I will probably regret this but whats the acronym?QuoteFair point on the valve, easy thing to check, but will have to wait 'til SWMBO is out before I start putting the wheel in the bathQuoteI like to check my tyre pressures every fortnight and I'm finding that I lose 4psi each time I check the fronts.a bit of spit on the valve can check that. wheel off and put some water at rim / tyre join or into the bath..the tyre that is
I guess it could be the valve but having read a bit about the wheels I know some of them are 'soft' so could it also be the seal between the wheel rim and the tyre? I have to admit the tyres aren't a premium brand.
I have these wheels:.
I think I would be having a look by eye to start with. Most likely one of the link arms has popped off.I'm sorry but you're talking to a complete novice and i havn't a clue what you mean tbh
Front is on the near side wishbone.
Rear (I think) is on the near side trailing arm.
