Omega General Help / Re: Engine advice needed please......
« on: 16 April 2010, 08:43:00 »
Hi Philrich - thanks for taking the time to respond. The oil level was fine, and the water level was a bit low but not so much as to cause a problem.

Someone else has suggested to me that it could just require a new oil pump. Does this sound feasible ?

Yeah, the red oil pressure light first, then a coolant level warning on the info display.

Thanks.

Omega General Help / Engine advice needed please......
« on: 14 April 2010, 18:10:16 »
I bought my first 2nd hand Omega yesterday, a 2.0 16V CD on an N plate. 30 miles into the journey home it broke down and I had to have it recovered.

First off the oil level light began intermittantly coming on. About a mile later the same light stayed on permanently, and there was a cooling level warning on the central info display. At this point I stopped driving altogether, and when I got out & popped the bonnet to take a look, the engine was knocking quite badly.

Does anyone have any similar experiences, and know what the problem might be ? If it is a commonly known issue, do you know how much to fix it ? or have I just been taken for a mug by the person who sold it to me ?

I'm gutted, as I have been after an Omega for a while now, and the one I bought is clean as a whistle inside & out, & just the engine (or the seller) that has let the car down.

Thanks for your help,

Jody.
