Omega General Help / 97 Omega 2.5 V6 CD .
« on: 31 July 2016, 17:49:49 »
Hi,
I still have a 97 Omega 2.5 V6 CD sitting in my garden ( on concrete ). It has an issue with starting, which was traced to a crank sensor problem . New sensor was bought , well in fact 2 were bought, the first was not a genuine part and didn't solve the problem , the 2nd more expensive one was(is) a genuine Vauxhall part, which sorted the problem for a few weeks, then poof I was back to the engine cranking over but not starting.
Due to my physical disability I was unable to progress any further with the problem

<modified by Admin - please read the Guidelines on selling ;)>

Cheers
Diz

Thanks for the quick reply .

Tried the re-sync , but no joy.

Do the door solonoids(??)  have individual fuses ??,  clutching at straws now  :-)

Hi

Up until I had to remove the car battery for recharging my CL has been working fine.

But now .

Driver door doesnt lock with the remote ,  but will lock fine with the key.

The remote locks and unlocks all the other locks fine and dandy.

Unlike a previous posters problem ,  all my locks stay locked when I lock with remote or key.

Is it just a coincience that it packed in after I removed the battery ??

Cheers.

Just picked up one of these

http://www.exspect.co.uk/products/164/Universal-FM-Transmitter/

from HMV store ,  currently on sale at only £7.

Works great

When you encounter the common problem associated with that one, by all means come and buy a real Modulator from me

 :-X

What would that common problem be ??

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Mysterious Flat Battery
« on: 16 July 2010, 22:10:12 »
Starting to do my head in .

We re-connected the towbar socket tonight (No scotch connectors this time  ;))
,  checked for shorts across the pins , all A-OK.
Check the voltages , again all fine ,  but within an hour the car wouldnt start and I needed a jump- to get going again.

While we were connecting the jump cables ,  my friend noticed that the earth lead on the battery was VERY hot .

Anybody got any ideas ??

Cheers

LoL  only used the Scotch cause they came already connedted to the wiring harness :-)

Update:  Ripped the wiring out ,  recharged the battery, working fine now.

Checked the socket ,   no shorts between pins.

Next step (This weekend) , reconnect the 12N socket , probably using insulated crimp connectors , just cause i have some, and Im currently out of solder.

Fingers crossed :-0

Car is a '98 (R reg)

wondering if last nights  first night of rain  in weeks had somewthing to do with it   :P

Hi alls.

Got up thids morning to find the car wouldn't start , suspected flat battery ,  but  why ??

Cars been running fine since I've had it  (4 weeks)

Yesterday we attached a towbar ( boot was open for quiet a few hours) ,
Wired the towbar electrics .

Car started when I drove it home .

BUT  this morning nothing  :-(

Cant recall if the boot has lights in it ?? ,  would this of flattened the battery if the boot had been open for ages  ??

Could connecting the towbar electrics (just a scocket on a lead) ,  have caused the battery to discharge ??

Any ideas  :-) ??

Ohhh took battery off to charge today  ,  anything  I need to be aware of when I reconnect it  ??

Many thanks .

Diz

Nope  Keys been nice and safe :-)

Q.   How does the immobilizer work ??

how does it actually immobilize the car ??

and if the car is immobilized how could I tell apart from it not starting  :-)

Update or should I say lack of update  :(

1. Charged battery and refitted.
2. Checked the fuel pump relays, can hear them clicking when engine switched on ,
3. Checked fuel pump , not 100% sure its pumping ,  think I can feel a vibration , but  didnt hear anything (maybe cause Im old?   ;)
4. No spark at spark plug , checked the distribution pak think (by feel)  non of the plugs or leads were out.
5. paper clip test shows 31 and 89 .

Brough a bluetooth OBD2 diagnostics module off fleabay, hopefully that will arrive in a day or so ,  might help track whats going on .
Someone suggest imobiliser problem ??  Is there anyway to check this ?? disable it ??  bypass it ??

If anyones got suggestions , please feel free to post ,  Im not very mechanically minded , but looks like Im going to have to become so  :)

Omega General Help / Crank Sensor changed (again) and ......
« on: 24 July 2011, 21:32:09 »
Hi all.

We I finally got a replacement for the suspect faulty crank sensor  (only took 2 weeks).
Fitted it yesterday ,  and charged battery up over night as I'd managed to leave a light on in the car ..grrrr .

tried to start it this morning,  and same old same old ,  engine turns over , no hint of firing,

Paperclip tests gave   89 and 31.

Checked and no spark at the plugs :-(

Suggestions ??

Im thinking a dodgy wire from the sensor socket to the computer thingy ??

Any other suggestions ??

Cheers

Diz
