Omega General Help / TC and ABS light on, no speedo.
« on: 11 July 2012, 22:30:11 »
For the last few weeks I have had no speedo, the TC and ABS lights on but sometimes it comes back and I've been told that this means the ABS ecu has had it.  Does anyone have one to suit a 2001 2.5 V6 Omega Elite?  Please message me.

Thanks.

Right thanks for clearing that up.  I won't put any more in then.  Luckily I don't think I damaged it because it still plays genuine discs fine.

Thanks again for the information.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CD player not playing copied discs
« on: 28 December 2010, 22:59:57 »
After buying my Omega I tried various old and new cd's in it - some copied and the rest originals.  Not had a problem playing the originals but the copied discs seem to vary whether they play or not, some play ok and others jump although this seems to be intermittent as sometimes they jump less or work more.

I know the discs are okay as they work on everything else so is there a compatabillity issue or is there a fault on the set? Do you need a certain type of media or brand?  Its the original 4 disc front loading cd player fitted in the dash.

Any help appreciated.

We checked the springs and there is nothing obvious, the rear pair are fairly new.  Bought a replacement ride level sensor and it hasn't made any difference.  Someone suggested the pump could be faulty?

Remeasured the heights again and it is 20mm higher at the o/s/r corner compared to the n/s/r where as the front are the same height (I measured it wrong lol).  When I got the car it was that corner which had a knackered shocker.

Completely stumped.   :(

I am aware of the sensor on the nearside rear suspension arm because the mechanic who changed the shocks thought that it controlled the ride height.  I have looked at the one of the offside and I am definately looking at the right one.

Broken springs? I will have a look and get back to you.

Omega General Help / Suspension Nightmare
« on: 03 May 2011, 21:41:18 »
Some months ago I had the rear self leveling shocks replaced because they were knackered.  Since then I have had problems getting the rear ride height right, although after some weeks it did seem to settle down.  During this time it wanted to step out on corners even at low speeds but this disappeared.  Having been told to try the ride height level sensor I found it seems to work but the car is still high up.

I measured the distances from the floor through the center of the wheel to the edge of the wheel arches and they are as follows:

n/s/r 68cm, o/s/r 70cm, o/s/f 67cm and n/s/f 65.6cm (although this tyre is pretty worn compared to the others which are about 8 months old.)

To look at it, it looks cockled at the back lol.  Had a word with the mechanic who changed the rear shocks and all I get is excuses about vac pipes - leaks and maybe the sensor being at fault and I have had enough,  >:(
I just want it to be right.

Also whether or not this is connected the display on the dash has been saying for two weeks something about a low beam fld vision?  I take it this is something to do with the headlights or a sensor?  Can anyone help with either problem because I don't know what to do next?

Thanks.

Dave

Omega General Help / Re: New suspension
« on: 15 February 2011, 21:12:51 »
Just a thought about the suspension, could anyone who owns an elite give me some measurements from the centre of the wheel to the edge of the wheelarch front and back so I can determine whether this is a front or rear problem or both?

Thanks.

I read that in the haynes manual just the other day as well.  I don't understand what difference it can make but there is obviously a reason for doing this.

The car is a 2001 Y reg.  I am beginning to wish I hadn't bought the Elite spec that way I could have avoided the whole self leveling suspension problems I have encountered  :'(
