and if they dont does anyone no of any other reason they would both just to seem to stop working

Omega General Help / please help strange noise on front wheel
« on: 11 September 2011, 15:44:37 »
hi all

went for a drive today (first real one since the hgf and rad failure :-( )

anyway the car ran like a dream,no water loose, over heating nothing :-)

but i got a strange clunking/rattling noise from the front pass  wheel, was that worried i made the wife drive !!!!! (pmsl, but only so i could put my head out the window to lisen to the noise as it only happened on unlevel/cloble ground )

anyway thought it could only realy be a few things

1.  something loose
2.  brake retaining clips broke
3.  wheel bearing
4.  disk its self loose
5.  shock knackered

anyway had a quick look and got a bar to lever on all the joints etc ,nothing !!!!

brakes all fine and bolts tight

shock looks good ,no oil leaks etc and when bouncing the front of car all seems spot on and returns to correct height etc so well happy

BUT then i put my hands up on the spring on the shock :-(
and found this

the very bottom of the spring has snapped off  :o :o :o

not sure why or when this has happened but as you can see it most of spanned a while ago

any ideas why this would of happened???????????

do i need to replace it asap? now ive removed this the noise has stopped and the car still seems to drive, steer and brake just fine no pulling to that side etc

cheers

right had a hr today and managed to get the beeping rad off!!!! had to also take the middle rad off to get the coolant rad off (i assume the middle rad is a cooler for the power steering???? as when i undid the pipes that run over the coolant rad the fluid that came out looks very much like power steering fluid)

anyway i bent the tabs back and removed the plastic end that is leaking

as you can see all looks ok

the inners have not broke

and looking at the plastic end theres no cracks either

but then i looked at the rubber gasket

as you can see im holding the tear in the rubber gasket :-(

thing is can i get a new gasket??????? (for the end)
or can i remove it and replace it with heat temp engine sealant/silicon???????

or is the rad oppsed and just bit the bullet and replace it????

Omega General Help / how do you remove :-(
« on: 27 March 2011, 19:14:35 »
hi all AGAIN im sure some of you have read my other threads

ive got a 2002 2.2 16v auto that is turning out to be a real pain in the ASS!!!

right now the rad has gone :-(
went out today only had about 20mins but thought that would be plenty of time ,after all its only a radiator!!!!

took the top panel thing off that hides the rad ,then i saw the bloody thing :-(

im not quit sure whats what!!!!!!

i see the main rad,but then theres a small thin one which is what ???? then another that i assume is for the air con???

thing is how do you take the coolant rad off???/ as theres what i think are air con pipes going over it????

do i need to part the aircon pipes to remove the coolant rad??? if so want it squirt aircon fluid everywhere???

also im sure would i not then also need to refill /presure the aircon circuit????

why is this car being such a t..t!!!! lol

well ive BEEN enjoying her till this morning!!!

NOW THE BLOODYRADIATOR HAS JUST GONE !!!!!!!
:-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

its seems very strange though as its not the fines etc that have gone !

looking at it from the front of the car its the plastic part of the rad on the drivers side, its almost like the seal some how has gone between the plastic part where it gones to the metal part of the rad,and not just a little bit its leaking all the way down!

(wish i could just hit it so it seals again lol)

im pritty sure there prob is nothing i can do apart from getting a new rad :-( but does anyone no if

1. this is quite a common prob?
2. any way of fixing it?
