im in northumberland, morpeth, tried a few garages here but nobody will touch it as its the gearbox! yes the original problem is when i put it in drive, put my foot on the throttle the engine just revs and i dont move, happens in 1 2 3 too, till the engine sort of bumps and stinks of hot gearbox oil and moves off, works ok in winter mode and reverse

2
to those who helped prev thank you, just waiting till i can get it on vauxhalls computer to sort the drive issue £78 jees anyway, as you were aware it drives perfectly in winter mode, is there a way of keeping this on all the time? when you turn engine off obv winter mode goes off, some cars stay in whichever mode you were in when you switched off but my 2.2 doesnt, can i change it so it does??

3
haha...right, see who knows this, vauxhall want £78 to put it on the computer, will do that when I can afford it but, tested the car, hoping the fairies had come and fixed it when i wasnt looking, drive, just the same, sport mode, same as drive, reverse, perfectly okay, winter mode, perfectly ok!!!! what the

right, ill ask the garage if it was checked with the engine running, and will ask local vauxhall dealer, who so far have not filled me with any confidence, if they can actually read the omega codes and then im gona ask you lot what to do with them!! thanks ::)

5
yes we searched and asked before we realised there was no dipstick, the level has been checked it fine, people are talking bout it being in limp home mode and get the codes checked, thats where im lost

6
will the garage know what codes and things, rang vauxhall main dealer to ask where the gearbox dipstick was, service manager said "ive no idea" a garage would surely know the codes! this all started just after going over a damn pothole in the road

7
i dont know anything about codes or what to do with them! going to ask the garage today if it was running when they checked, the onboard computer flashes up check coolant level, i assume that means oil and water which is fine

8
thanks for the help people, feel like im getting somewhere, the oil was checked at the garage, i assumed they knew how to do it! im in northumberland for those asking, morpeth area, any help greatly appreciated

yes, a red light of a car with a spanner sticking out of it, then the engine started to heat up, didnt go very high, burning smell, gearbox oil def wasnt engine oil, that was the only light, seems to be a bit of oil around the left side of the engine block, as you look onto it, but that miteve been there before, totally lost

Omega General Help / said hi in the newbies bit, asking for help here

just got it, great looking car, very comfortable smooth then im trying to pull away and no gears and the engine heats up...what!!

2001 y reg 2.2 cd automatic petrol, had a look and seemed to point at the gearbox being empty of oil, got it checked, not a problem, loads in, sump gasket, bell housing gasket not leaking trans fluid, its engine oil thats dripping, probably dripping through onto the clutch causing it to slip??

pulling away in drive, 3 2 1 is a an engine revving experience till the gearbox catches and away you go, slowly, once youre away, runs great, till you come to a red light or junction then, you know what, funny, you can reverse all day and it doesnt slip once

any ideas ????
