What about the fronts of your running different sizes?

The omega didn't have staggered wheels as standard so the ABS programming will be seeing different things to what is expected.

The steering shouldn't feel overly light, but there's always a very slight dead spot straight ahead... This is a normal side effect of a steering box when compared to a rack, but weird is never a positive description.

Whilst still shit, one brand of cheap tyres will perform unpredictably under certain conditions when compared to another.

If everything is playing free at the back and you haven't changed anything then I don't see how it can be an alignment issue 

To properly check the diff/rear subframe mounts, support but DO NOT lift the diff with a jack. Then undo one of the mount carriers. If the frame falls off, then the mount is done. Refit and repeat the other side.

You won't get any noise when these fail, but it will allow the weight at the back of the car to move in ways that you can't predict.

You need better tyres.

The omega isn't particularly tail happy as a rule.

I've lost the rear of a Vectra C estate more times than any rwd car I have owned. Even the S500 which currently has no ABS/Traction Control.

There's a conspiracy theory doing the rounds that Labour will drive the economy over the cliff and will end up going to the IMF for a bailout loan. One of the terms of the bailout will be that the UK joins the EU, or at least joins the EU's Single Market and Customs Union which would mean that we are effectively a colony of the EU. 

Sounds fantastical, but this Labour government are so bad you have to wonder if they are doing things on purpose....

It may well happen but it will not have been 'engineered' conspiracy style by the government.

It will be the result of natural incompetence.

So, if calculated like this the difference is about 0.5% if calculated right.

Whaaat....with all the levels of skill and competence of the Labour front bench (and those behind, truthfully) how can you even think such things

They may well be being told what to do, but they wouldn't deliberately do it on their own because had they tried things would be infinitely better such is their incompetence.
