Bloody Tesco, and Demon Internet!
« on: 08 March 2012, 13:17:00 »

I had a demon internet account....back in the days of dial up, and 512k Broadband...
never had any problem with them, until they refused to try a manual update of my speed to 1 meg....

I left for Zen who did....about 10 years ago.

I have just come off the phone to some bloke (with the same surname as me) who has bought my old domain....

And is getting my Tesco's clubcard statements...although I am to my current email as well!

Cant beleive how this has happened for so long, where have these emails been going for the last decade!  as the address should have been dead, housekeeping should have removed it long ago!

Have spoke to clubcard on the phone....they are deleting that from their records....but im not holding my breath!

Surely this falls well foul of the Data Protection laws that Tesco and the rest of those who love to bang us with it adore so much?
There must be some way you can get a recompense and compensation for this almighty cockup considering that you had informed them of the fact that you were leaving them.
I have for many years tried with many different companies that I have left, and had no future wishes to do business with again, to have the personal information they held about me deleted from their databases. It took years in most cases and solicitors letters before they complied. The worst one of all was SKY. I am still in the process of dealing with that one through legal channels because their excuse is that I might one day return to them.  :D NEVER as long as a rockin horse cannot s*it and hens do not have teeth will I do that.
As the personal information that they hold about us is our personal information then surely it should be our choice who retains it for business purposes?
Am I right or wrong?  :-\
