2.5TD, leaking fuel at injector.
« on: 03 July 2012, 15:38:28 »

As above, No 6 injector leaking somewhere at the bottom, tried nipping it up but no different. Rang dealers to see if they had seals, but apparently none listed so they don't need them (anyone remember if they do?) I do have a spare set, so after work tomorrow, I will try replacement of one/all injectors. Not sure why an injector would start leaking. Any thoughts?   ::)

Sure it's the injector and not the leak off pipe?

There is a copper washer at the bottom. Re-aneal it.

All leak-off pipes are new & not leaking. I thought there was a copper washer of some sort, thanks TB.
Cherry red then quench in water?

Dull red .. don't overcook .. then either quench or cool naturally .. for non-ferrous it makes no difference.. ferrous MUST be cooled naturally

EDIT

For those who doubt ....

Thanks for that Byron, not got to that stage yet. I forgot what a pita the inlet manifold was. Anyway, No 6 injector out, no sign of damage, (although a little sooty), copper washer annealed, ready to fit spare injector. Got caught in a couple of downpours, taking usual medication (Whiskey).

Job done, thank to all for the advice. I also need to replace a leak-off pipe, perhaps I caught it with the manifold, or it is past it's best. (one whole year!!!)
