The 2.6 torque converter is a match for the characteristics the 2.6. Assuming it isn't damaged the  converter needs to be taken off the 3.0/3.2 gearbox and the replaced by the 2.6 converter.

Don't try to leave it bolted to the engine or the oil pump drive will be damaged.

Yes  :y

There were several threads discussing the process 2 or 3 years ago, don't know if they got turned into maintenance guides :-\

Some people advocate dropping the sumps and changing the filter, also removing the front cover pump and replacing the plastic thrust washer.

the prob with mine its seems that it does not want to change gear when going uphill from a standing start
and when i go above about 4000 revs it goes into limp mode. but the box is ok on level ground its as smooth as silk all through the gears
first i thought it was the oil level so i had it check at main agents and all is ok even on the tech2 everything checks out
any ideas will be most welcome
thanks

That's exactly what mine does I was told 2/3 solonoid if I shift lever into 3rd when it won't change then back into drive it works ok I'm looking for a good replacement box but aparantly solonoid is not to hard to change.

Solenoid replacement does seem to be the esaier option although it is abit of a lottery getting second hand solenoids that will work ok as new can work out pricey especially when you add in cost of replacement Dex III.

My problems were similar to those as described however I went down the full gearbox replacement route.I have a full spare set of solenoids here which were kindly provided by another member and I have done a electrical resistance test on them and they seem to be fine.Drop me a pm if you wish to go the replacement solenoid route as have (hopefully  ;D ) no further need for them .
