The dreaded radio code input process !!
« on: 07 September 2012, 18:24:23 »

This is a separate issue to the current one doing the rounds as this is about inputting radio codes after a power interrupt.

When I got it back the radio (standard issue CDR 2005) was displaying "SAFE" on the console.

I had the Car Pass with me and chose to input the four digit numbers written on the the "Radio Type/Code" field. Both these four digit sets of numbers failed to work so I got past three failed attempts before realising I'd need to seek expert advice. Tried sending Dave a PM but got no response so my question is....

"The manual states that the radio needs to stay on after failed attempts. Its currently showing "7 SAFE" but it doesnt say for how long. Does anyone know, approximately, how long I need to wait with the radio and, presumably, ignition on before attempting another input code operation ?"

Thanks

PS 2Woody's pointed out the Car Pass also has another four digit number next to the "Security Code" field so I'll give that a go next time  :-[

Are you 100% certain that it's the correct pass? If not I'd stop before you brick it with random attempts ;)

In answer to your question, anywhere between 30 mins and an hour rings a bell for the first attempt :-\

Good point will check the VIN No. before trying to enter any more codes.

Turn on the stereo.
Then turn the ignition OFF.
Hold down the AS button while turning ignition ON.
Hold the AS until CODE appears allowing you to input the code.

The waits are between a few mins to several hours.

If the unit is powered off during a wait, the wait timer starts from scratch.

It won't be SECURITY code. It will be RADIO code. Its the line on the carpass that reads:

RADIO Code.........2005/1234

The 2005 is the radio type (cdr2005) and the 1234 is the code

Obviously, its possible the radio has been changed at some point. Worth pulling it out, in case someone has written the code on it.

Dont want to get hung up on semantics TB but mine says 0205/****. I assume the 0205 is the radio type but just scrambled or is there an 0205 model to your knowledge ?

Thanks

Hmmm, any chance you could show me scan of card (privately if you prefer), just to check no schoolboy errors going on (by either of us!!)
