If I was faced with this problem on an Omega (with no knowledge of it's history) I would lay bets on it being the door locking motor in the drivers door. If I knew that someone had recently had a go at fixing it I would buy a new one to eliminate the unknown factor.

Next prime culprit is a broken spring in the lock mechanism allowing the lock button to drop when the drivers door is opened.

A problem with the door contact may have caused random buzzer noises but it isn't linked to the central locking.

I'm not sure but I think there is a link between the door pins and the central locking, I know the deadlocks wont engage until the drivers door has been opened after ignition off (same as the windows still work with the key removed until ddoor opened.)

Hi Kevin, when i say wires i'm talking about the spade terminals ie I am testing switch completely unplugged.
Do I take it that it is correct that the two spade terminals are connected by the switch when door open?
The two spade terminals are both connected to earth when the door is opened.

Hi I realise that but i mean between the two spade terminals, when door button is out ie door is open there is continuity between the two spade terminals

Right deadlocks would not work when problem first occured but when I removed old switch tested then put back this option did work, with new switch all works apart from the locks locking only when drivers door is opened.
Cant see how the wiring loom to the door is at fault when all looks ok and the fact that the problem occurs by operating switch while door open
