will the shocks & springs off a mv6 fit on a td? & do the job they are meant to do?

They will physically fit, but the TD is considerably heavier than any other engine in the omega range.

The spring and damper rates won't be man enough sadly.

  thanks for input ,I did think they were about the same weight . I will have to find out the part No,s for the springs & shocks for the td

Pretty sure front shocks and springs are the same across the range with the exception of MV6 LSC ones. Sure someone on here would be able to confirm this.

I have a set of Front Shocks and Springs off my Elite which haven't done many miles (I'll find out how many miles if you are interested).
