Hey gays, hope you're all good.

How do you guys do the above? I fitted a new PAS pump to my mate's Hyundai Coupe and when I fitted the new part and refilled the system it sounded like SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIITE!!!!!! Even at idle it was screeching and clunking 

I went about bleeding the way I thought it was to be done..... turn steering lock to lock a few times with the lid off the fluid reservoir and I left it to idle.

the noise was that bad I actually thought something was seriously wrong  luckily the job is a 5 minute one so I popped the old one back on and that made a little bit of noise initially and then settled down fine (apart from still exhibiting the reason for it's replacement of it screeching at full left lock).

Anyway I was thinking about this and i'm wondering if I simply didn't bleed it well enough instead of condemning the eBay part as junk. What do you think?

Sounds like eBay part was bad,right method of bleeding system tho

nice one mate. I thought so. its also odd that putting the old one back responded to my method of bleeding - that's why I was so quick to condemn the eBay part.

ive asked him to bring it over again as I want to be doubly sure so ill pop the ebay part on again and have a play.

I believe these can be ''remanufactured'' somewhat so I may take it apart and see if I can repack the bearings.

Being WWD it can't pull a wheelie so can't bleed ps that way

lmao. yeah i'm fairly sure it cant do that.

ok two questions that are on my mind....

1.) when I get the new part (gonna get one from a motor factors for him) would it be sensible to prime it with PAS fluid so its not dry on initial start up?

2.) someone on a Hyundai forum mentioned an air bleed nipple on the rack itself.  i'd never heard of this but I suppose it makes sense. anyone else heard of this on any car?

Just fit pump dry,still have fluid in system,so only top up pump once all connections done,if you want turn pump by hand a few times,then fit aux belt and bleed system

it is possible to have a bleed screw in rack-have a look-what you could do is pour oil into pump-first-messy but fun

lol yeah it did get messy. it missed the rags i'd put down and went on the road 

Ill have a look for a bleed screw but even if there is one it should have bled out using lock to lock method, right?

turn full lock-undo bleed----but dont hold  full lock too long-not good
