Well.....thats 96hrs and it still aint fixed....

Neighbour, i found out, has the same prob (different ISP) ....and he's connected to the same telegraph pole......so its either that or the local cabinet...

Only upside is my ISP has agreed to pay me compensation as BT hasnt fixed it yet.....

Downside, its bloody slow connected at GPRS....cannot get 3G inside house....outside fine....but im not prepared to go stand in the rain!

 :( :(

Bahh BT  >:( Would never have BT again , constant line faults and ages to repair them but they never repaired them . And call centre folk you cant understand  :(
What, you think Virgin are better :o

Anything better than BT  ;D Never had a problem with talk talk ever in 3 yrs . BT gave up with line faults after coming out to the house 8 times , gave me 4 months money back  :(
The Carphone Whorehouse do not have their own lines, so it runs over exactly the same copper (or ali or lead if you're unlucky) as the BT service, and is fixed by the same Openreach people.

Update from my ISP today via text message...

Apparently Openreach need to come and dig a hole to fix the fault.....but no timescale when this will happen....

I'm guessing the fault is inbetween the local cabinet and the telegraph pole, im attached to ... and they have run out off spare cables going between the two..... :-(

Another update.....

To me, this is unbelievable that Openreach can take so long....

My ISP has text me saying....they (my isp) has to contact openreach next thursday to see if they can give them a fix date!!

That'll be nearly 3 weeks since the fault was reported......and thats just a fix date....not it will be fixed by then!!

Any ideas if ISP's have SLA's with Openreach?? That is, fault has to fixed within a certain timescale? TB might know? i guess?  Coz basically my ISP has told me, they will refund all cost of line rental and internet cost for the downtime....but as for compensation they are talking about £10, which to me seems a bit misery, seeing as it has cost me so far, £18.50 to get back online using a mobile connection....

It can get complex.

An ISP has no SLA with the broadband side of a BT Wholesale provided xDSL service. Zilch.

If your phone is off, many phone providers do have SLAs with Openreach. BT (Retail) do, hence the 2 working day to fix, formally CSGS. Other LLU providers have their own SLAs depending on their own contracts with BT (and how much they want to pay).

Its usually better (for those with BT lines) to report the phone as faulty, rather than go through the ISP. Obviously, if your ISP is the same as your phone service provider, and not BT, generally you're screwed.

Amazing!!

Just had a text from my ISP.....Openreach have given them a date when they intend to start work on fixing the fault......29/06/2013!!

That will be 5 weeks from when i reported the fault!

Also it sounds like, Openreach want to replace the cable from the cabinet to the telegraph pole....as it seems most of my neighbours on the same telegraph pole are disconnected as well.

Good job I still have 2GB of data left out of the 3GB I bought, tho it runs out on the 4th of July, just hope Openreach have replaced the cable by then.

Well not bad i spose  ::) Openreach fixed the line fault yesterday.....thats 5 weeks!

According to the openreach guy, delay was, the contractors to replace the cable. Apparently the contractors didnt do what openreach asked them to do either. Openreach paid the contractors £500 to replace the cable from the telegraph pole to the cabinet. They started digging from the telegraph pole and 1m later they found the damaged cable (caused by tree roots). So they just replaced a metre of cable apparently!  ::) Easy £500  ;D
