Happy days :D

Excellent guide to handbrake is on the site, but you can't take shortcuts.  Its quite time consuming the first time...

found that guide, does all that need to be done to adjust it, just so I don't do stuff that might not need it?

Yes, afraid it does.

I assume, you found this guide...

Note the comment that saves you having to remove the heat shields: "Some people also prefer to use a socket on a long extension to obtain access to the handbrake cable adjuster."

Note the comment that saves you having to remove the heat shields: "Some people also prefer to use a deep socket on a long extension to obtain access to the handbrake cable adjuster."
Fixed that for you. ;)
I found that a normal socket couldn't reach the flats on the adjuster nut because of the threaded rod projecting through the nut.
With a deep socket I was able to concentrate on adjusting the parking brake without having to first shear off remove about 20 little nuts to get the heat shields off.

LOL, you might have gone the whole hog and given the socket size too!
(It's a 13mm if I remember correctly)

Thanks for the replies one and all, decided it would be stripped anyway as the binding could be calliper or could be handbrake, or would you all disagree ;D

Was the handbrake advisory due to limited excess travel or due to inefficiency?

My Cavalier is booked in for its test at 4pm tomorrow.Thats going to be a real "wing & a prayer" job. ::) ;D
It doesn't owe me anything, but I would hate to have to scrap it.It saves me a small fortune, and Im kind of getting attached to the old rusty heap of sh1te for some reason. Twiglet did warn me that would happen. ::)
