Both good news and bad news. Firstly the good news, the MID works, hooray. Now the bad news, I didn't fix it, it did itself.
Using the guide below,
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90505.0I got the dash out (what a P.I.T.A that screw is holding the dash in just above the steering wheel - I felt like I had fingers like pigs t*ts), and lo and behold the MID started working again, tried valiantly to undo the plug at the back but simply failed (I didn't know how far the dash would pull out and however far I could pull it out meant awkward access to the plus behind the MID). Nevertheless the MID is working again so for now good news.
Can I thank you all for helping me even though I may have to have another stab at it unless by fluke I fixed it by disturbing the wiring or its memory, I find car jobs a bit daunting sometimes and frightened I am going to make matter worse so I am extremely grateful for your support. Much appreciated
