Hi,

Got into my car this morning (52 reg 2.2 DTi if that helps), it hasn't been run for about 2 weeks and the little computer thingy called a MID is blank  , radio works and from doing a search on the previous MID threads on here I can't seem to work out what the issue is. Isn't the fuse as according to the handbook they share the same fuse (20A) and as confirmed the radio works.

Would appreciate any guidance

may be your/someones hands touch the dash light dimming switch at the left..

Thanks for the reply, just tried you suggestion but sadly it hasn't cured the issue (although the dimmer does work on the dash lights)

next try is the fuse .. not sure which one though

Give the dash a slap above it, might be a loose connection which will obviously need sorting

Bulbs ? Iirc when one goes they all tend to go.

+1 likely bulbs.  Try shining a torch directly onto it - if you can see the message, then bulbs gone

Thanks to you all, will check with torch tomorrow and if they isn't anything I can see then I will give a gentle slap on the dash to see if that helps, will try torch first though....

Right then,

Just been out, with torch in hand, turned on the ignition and very briefly the MID illuminated with the usual check brake light and then went out again as quickly without me tapping the brake pedal. Tried replicating this 3 and 4 times by inserting key but to no avail. Used my albeit son's crappy plastic torch and can't see any display when shone onto display. Tried tapping, slapping and perhaps a bang  or two on the dash and nothing either. Could it be a loose wire then, if it came on and then went off just as quick?

Next step is cluster out and check the plug(s) and bulbs

dont!  you will loose some pixels as its connections weak inside..

+1 agreed - check bulbs and plug connection ok (remove and refit plug a couple of times and/or spray with contact cleaner
