Couple of questions
« on: 04 June 2008, 10:38:06 »

Got my 2nd trip out in the Elite yesterday so still getting used to the toys etc.

Love the head lights.  Such a definite light beam "h" pattern but they seem to be set too low.  Does anyone know where I can find the details for checking the height and distance of the beams to check them againt a wall.

Can the main beams we adjusted on thier own, they seem to be a bit cross eyed.

Also I noticed as I put the ignition on the speedo and rev counter needles flicker before I start up, but I dont see this on my GLS.  What is the reason for this?

TIA ?

My xenons failed the MoT as the self-adjuster on ns lower arm was broken. Having changed it and reset the lights (by garage ppl), driver`s one is still quite low. Lift the bonnet and squeeze your hand behind the light unit on each side- take off the rubber cover, there`s an up/down switch. If i`m right, driver`s should be `down` and passenger`s `up`. Those switches are for changing light height when driving abroad so you don`t blind others.  Have a look there to check your settings.

The other thing to consider is they are self adjusting via level sensors.

The track can get a bit dirty so they struggle to move.

With a tech2 a HID excercise procedure can be carried out which moves them fully up and down, cleaning and re distributing any lubrication.

This has made a difference to a few cars (mine included).

Wont fix any alignment issues, but I would recommend you have it done if you can anyway.

What year is your elite?
If an early one, then you won`t have the self levelling adjuster on front lower arm but a dashboard switch on rhs by main light switch

I like the sound of that.

Will have a chat with Mark about a "Tech2 Service" so wirh the HID's and the climate along with the Gearbox update should be worth a visit.  Need to get Cambelts sorted 1st though.

1999 T plate.  No adjuster on the dash.
