Lost Computer Data.

It simply vanished from the screen. Gone..........I suspect aliens. :-\

My Word .rtf document is just a blank page.

I have so far run a search on the computer for .asd , .wbk , .doc , and ~ files all to no avail. Does anyone have a way other than those already mentioned to retrieve a lost .rtf file?

Any help would be most welcome, chaps. :y

Rich Text Format, why you saving files in this format?, not that it matters if it gone, have you tried *(DOT)rtf or 'name of file(DOT)* in search, or recent Documents etc

I got a program called "recover my files" finds anything lost even deleted. Works for me :y

Most files that appear to be lost actually still exist; only the pathway to their locations on the hard drive have been lost.  :-\

Have you lost the actual file, or what was in it ?

Just a thought, but if you have opened the file with the correct file name, but it looks blank, is the typeface colour white and therefore cannot be seen ? If so use Ctrl + A to select everything and then change the font colour.

Above is a bit of a long shot, probably not the problem as Dr Opti is a "Doctor" and therefore far too clever to do silly things  ;D

I'm guessing its an ntfs filesystem, and a small file (thus stored with filename in the mft). You may be lucky and the mft hasn't overwritten, but I wouldn't hold out hope
