Being 'aware' isn't going to help much if the other person pulls out an AK47 - unless you also happen to be bulletproof..

You don't keep vermin alive.

You do until you get them to tell you what they know   :)

We already know what they know; they hate us and are prepared to die to do something about it. They might be hatefilled, vicious, violent, religious extremists, but the people that run this sort of thing aren't stupid or incompetent. They have an endless supply of 'soldiers', and the things they do aren't like putting a man on the moon. So the chances of the foot soldiers knowing anything that could trace further up the chain are non-existent. You don't stop this sort of thing with enormous government bureaucracies filtered through the military and further buggered up by politicians. That sort of thing leads to even worse consequences than we are looking at here.

The only realistic, effective thing to do is to prove to these maniacs that they are wrong whenever they pop their heads up.

And no, I don't like what that implies either

Aaron! Look at my photo, you do not "PULL OUT" an AK-47 due to it's size. (I don't have one but the other guys do.) I am just informing ignorant well informed people what can happen in this time of very serious threats to us all. End Of.

You can't fight intolerance with tolerance.
There is nothing to negotiate with them.
There ethos is either live there way or die so unless you want to kiss the arse of radical islam, we start just slotting the bastards every time they raise there vile heads. No fuss or fanfare, no inquest after every round is fired, no tears of regret either   >:(

And 'dangle berries' to the human rights act and opps the Geneva convention too ...............

You can't fight intolerance with tolerance.
Then everyone has to be intolerant. And as Nick W says, I think that's an equally dangerous line to go down.

Any form of religious extremism is going to be dangerous. Most historical commentators agree that religion is a way to control the masses, and is about power (of those at the top). By faith's nature, the foot soldiers will do as their leaders say, knowing the next life promises more, whether that be a line of virgins, "Heaven", whatever.

We must not forget that the vast, vast majority of people gifted with a faith are decent, law abiding, caring people.

I don't think those sentiments would have helped Lee Rigby, he didn't know anything was amiss until they turned him in to a bonnet mascot before chopping his head off.

Has anyone bothered to tell the extremist loons that the virgins are all boys?

That's what they're hoping for.

I always thought they were generally "straight", it's the Catholic church and MP's that like to bat for the same team.

Arabs? Straight? Yeah, because their religion says they should be. They don't like a drink either.....
