What you want is an I pad, tab s or similar.
Anything with simcard.
I'm using since years the ipad, even with mount in the car as ats nav,
SIM card based.
But switches over to wifi if in range.
After the update last year it stoppt working on sim, apparently can't read the sim, loads of rubbish as it allways worked and around 6k of pads had the same problem after the update.
Short story I got a tab s which is same size and is doing the same, may even more.
Batterie life is a bit shorter but works.
Again SIM card based.
Works for me.

If you can't use your phone to 'Hot Spot'

This might be the simplest dilution.

These two will do the job nicely, (Just make sure you have decent EE signal in the areas you wish to use)

The EE Sim with 6GB is good for 3 months unless you use the 6GB allowance up first which is unlikely unless you are going to watch a lot of streaming content. Should be fine for normal browsing.

The phone certainly has the ability to do it, it's down to the service provider whether you actually can or not (or rather, the T&C's of the contract you have with the service provider).

For example, new customers on the 3 network with an "all you can eat" contract cannot tether however they can download as much as they like on the handset itself.

What I meant by if you can use your phone as a hot spot was if that feature is available on that device as I don't know what phone EMD has could be a Nokia 3310 for all I know  ;D

I'm with THREE pay as you go and buy the 15 all in one package which comes with unlimited data, It doesn't include teathering although I've teathered 100s of GB of data using iPhones. Anywhere up to 20mbps download, 2.5mbps upload.

I reckon you could mess about and jump through hoops and then find you dontyreally need it anyway.
Exactly. Last time I used my mifi was in Cyprus last year. I suspect the next time will be Cyprus this year.

Virgin phone contract  :)
What handset?

Does the contract have a data allowance?

I assume you're happy with EE's (virgin use EE's 2g/3g (only, not 4g)) data coverage?

Good point, I assumed it was a smartphone as pretty much everybody has one these days.

iam with 3 for now 9 years.

That will be why then, the tethering ban on the all you can eat package only applies to new customers.

Yes that handset allows you to turn it in to a Wi-Fi hotspot, and yes Virgin do allow tethering.

Use 2 fingers to pull the "drop down bar" (aka Quick Access panel) down from the top and you will have ALL the quick access buttons available.
Select the Wi-Fi Hotspot button (with your data enabled of course), and you will then see a page that gives you the hotspot name (which is AndroidAP by default) and the password it wants you to use to access the hotspot (you may change both if you wish).
