presumably that's wthout the engine out though...

unbelievable ....... obviously sticking an engine underneath a car doesn't aid access  ???


A starter motor is an engine out job on an A-class.

Most non-service engine jobs are engine out on A class. It is well known that MB simply do not know how to design a car.

..... when he'd got the chain cover off it was clear the chain had been rubbing as there were gauges on the chains cover  :o and  .....

Like this .....  :( And yes .... that is a hole  ???



This was my Smart's timing chain cover. Can't remember the mileage at the time, but it wasn't loads.
Smarts are particularly poorly constructed, with several construction problems, all that end up with causing the owners a lot of grief (and lighter wallets).
