Was well impressed...
« on: 03 August 2015, 17:51:49 »

So, I left the garage at around 4.30 last Thursday. One of the other guys stays 'til 6.30 as he starts later.

This car came in for  a  timing chain just as I was leaving.....a nice Merc A Class.

Was very impressed when I walked in the next morning and in that 2 hours he'd dropped the engine with the subframe on to the stabds ready for the timing chain replacement. (the odd shape of thisengine means it cant be done in situ)...it took us an hour to getthe crank bolt out and 3 of us!

apologies for the quality of the images but the engine is on its side almost. when he'd got the chain cover off it was clear the chain had been rubbing as there were gauges on the chains cover  :o and there was loooads of back and forth play in the chan and guides. that coulda been disaster!

Oh dear. MrsT likes Mercs. A & B are well priced. Perhaps a classic 90's C Class would be better  ;D
