Help needed with central locking.
« on: 19 August 2015, 23:02:42 »

Central locking problem.
The central locking on my 1999 2.5TD has been playing up for a while, and I think it is about time I tried to sort it. Just not sure what the problem is and I am looking for help in trying to locate the problem.

First problem: The remote key fob stopped working ages ago, have tried new battery but no change.
To get round this I have been locking the car manually but this has its own problems. At the moment this is how I have to lock the car.

1:Lock the P/S front door by pushing down the lock button from inside the car,
2: get out of car and close the Driver door
3: open rear d/s door and push down the driver's door lock button
4: close rear d/s door.

I then use the key in the driver's door to open the car, this will unlock the car except for the p/s front door which need to be unlocked from inside the car. Sometimes the p/s f door will unlock using this system but not very often.

I have also found that if I lock the car with the key, then when I unlock the car the alarm will go off, where if I use the system above then alarm is not triggered.

Not too worried about key fob, but would be nice to have p/s lock working properly and be able to lock and unlock car with the key without the alarm sounding.

Anybody have any suggestions as to where the problem may lie.

you need a new/another passenger side central door locking motor & your fob fixing. You say you replaced the battery with no luck, then have you looked at the batter holder? They have a tendency to become detached from the pcb board they're attached to.

Thanks for the reply.

Took key fob apart this morning and found you are correct. The battery holder has  detached from the pcb board. Contacted Martin Imber to arrange to get this fixed.

I did manage to get the fob to work, (holding the battery down), but found that both the front doors locks did not work. Does this mean that I need to replace both locking motors in the front doors?

Thanks again for any info.

From memory there are two micro switches within the lock motor mechanism, they are a few pennies/pounds at RS components if your up to stripping the motor down there is a guide on here somewhere, when mine stopped working this was the issue a lot cheaper than replacing a whole mechanism

Been looking around for a replacement CL motor for the Omega, and have found that the Corsa B uses the same part number but seem to be cheaper.

Does any body know what all the different numbers mean on the part in the pic.

I have found 3 different motors all with the same numbers except for the last number 40/98, this number changes to 15/96 or 04/00. What is this number ?

Thank for any help.

Hi as mentioned before it could well be just the micro switches....

As others have said... Micro switches.

As for your last question. As a guess, and it is purely a guess, I would suggest date of manufacture :-\

I.e. Week/year  :-\

Thank for advice.

I do realize that it is most probably the micro switches, but it would be quicker to just change the motors if I can find them for the right price.

As said above if I search for Corsa B, instead of Omega, the part is coming up £10 - £20 cheaper.

All sorted and seems to be working fine.

Changed the white mirco swiches, in both front doors. Was not as bad a job as I throught it would be

Thanks for all advice given.
