Actually, if I'm honest, I'm not a big pie man. Now a nice pasty...  ...esp a medium steak one from Philps in Cornwall...  ...but I do have to stop to eat, as I can get a bit messy ;D

Are Dewdneys still in business? We'd always stop there and get fresh pasties for lunch when coming home from Plymouth. And hogs pudding for dinner when we got home.

Do you mean Ginsters?,if so then yes they are shite

Nowt wrong with a Ginsters Cornish Pasty.  Made in Cornwall, with local produce!  :-\

Needs to be heated in the Oven, not a Microwave!!!!!  Pastry is good, veg is good.... nice bit of meat and nicely seasoned.

Don't know why people slate Ginsters Pasty's so much????   :-\ :-\ :-\

Because they are full of gristle. ;)

Non smoker, BTW. Had my one and only cigarette when I was about 5 or 6.  Might have had the odd pie however.  ::)  :y

 ;)

Now you're talking,had one last weekend ;) :y :y
Right, henryd, its official, I bloody hate you ;D

I'm dribbling thinking about it

It was a large steak that I had, rather marvellous it was too ;) ;D ;D

Anything has to be better than that 'Gristlers' shite. :(

I think they are the best of the "available in all supermarkets" pasty.  Obviously, anyone who has had a Philps steak pasty will understand there is no comparison.

But as its a 570 mile round trip, or £15 delivery, there are times when a Ginsters is the best option :(

I detest them,I think maybe you need to compare them to some of the proper Cornish Pasties :y

I spend a decent amount of time working in Cornwall.  I've had many, many Philps Pasties.... Of course they ARE better, but they cost 6/7 times the amount.  And, for the record, I actually prefer the Pastry on a Ginsters.

At the Launceston exit, there is a Butchers on Pennygillam Industrial Estate.  Philip Warren & Sons.  That's where to get a bloody good pasty.  Definitely give Philps a boot up the arse, and half the price too!

The A30 is a very long road, so by the time I get to the North Tawton exit (there is a services there) I'm hungry.  Not too many burger-vans on the A30, and apart from the new(ish) owners of 'The Owl' there isn't a lot to eat along the way.  I am always salivating by the time I get to Launceston..... Philip Warren gets my trade, even if I'm flaking out by the time I get there!  ;D

Ginsters/Gristlers....my view.

The pastry is acceptable but leaves a nasty greasy taste on the roof of my mouth.

The meat, if you can call it that, takes the form of 'slurry'

Gristle and 'connective tissue' form the main part of the pasty along with a few manky vegetables.

In summary. This product is of poor quality.

Good advertising helps shift plenty of this crap.

Yep, with you, especially on that greasy roof of the mouth thing, revolting, but marginally better if you warm it up first.

Also almost designed to crumble all over you whilst eating. I would have to be seriously running out of options to eat one by choice.

I don't buy a Gristlers  if sold as a BOGOF. :-\
