The spring clip from the solid disc set is fine, just clean up and reuse the pins

Not so, it can jam between the pads... Effectively locking out the rear brakes.

New pins and spring available from dealer still, but from memory the pins are something like £4 each

just priced some for mine and the pins are £6.90 each and the springs £5.80 ordered from germany, so have ordered some pins and springs from different sources for the likes of mercedes etc and see what comes close and adapt will see how it goes
