I once had a lad labouring on me & another brickie that had tattoos on his face.( not massive, just two stars & inkspots  he was a rogue as it turned out. I read that he was caught with two other accomplices whilst stealing slates off a farm house. his mates got away but the farmer tied him to a gate whilst the police came. the farmer initially didn't hurry to ring the police, giving the thief an odd slap.the lad did a few months in jail. on his release  the lad sued the farmer & eventually when the case went to court his facial tattoos had been removed. the farmer got done for imprisonment & assault . he ended getting jail & ordered to pay a huge amount of damages to the thief.

Once again, the law seems to favour the villain rather than the victim. Time was when such well-deserved treatment of the felon would have been applauded, not punished.
