Marks DTM - Tiny hands & the strength of hercules
« on: 22 March 2009, 18:08:46 »

Well, that is entirely my opinion, based on no evidence other than his 'Servicing the rear disks and parking brakes' guide.

I mean, seriously - this bit of the guide:
Next fit the top and bottom shoe return springs, I find it easiest to pop one end of the spring into the shoe and whilst holding the other shoe pull the spring end with a pair of snipe nose pliers and ease it into the opposite hole

My hands were too big to see what I was doing, it took all my strength to 'pull the spring end' and I have cuts and grazes all over my knuckles from the multiple attempts it took to do it.

Good on you Mark - the guide is excellent. It only took me 6 hours to do the work, my neigbours children all know a whole library of new swear words, and doing the work didn't make the rear rubbing noise go away on my car. (I think the latter is due to the fact that I need new disks and pads all round, to be fair).

I have always found it easier to attach the spring ends then pull the shoes into place, more to use as leverage ;).
