900 jobs going across Scotland.

700 at Kilmarnock (the home of Johnnie Walker) Closed!
140 at Port Dundas Distillery - Closed!
40 at Dundas Hill Cooperage - Closed!
Hurlford Logistics base going to 3rd party contractors
30 jobs at Shieldhall

I work at the last plant, well for how long I dont know, and I can assure you it was not a pleasant place to work this morning. >:(

economy in Turkey has diminished 14 % on paper..

actual is worse..

now the question, what has changed in 1 year..

position of capital..  position of banks..

as they (banks-capital owners) squeeze more,
money flow change directions and also

accumulated in somewhere else safe for them.. >:( >:(

Hi Cem
Do not no if it is of any help to you personally but here in the UK the holiday companies are really pushing holidays in Turkey. I think it is to avoid the euro zone, so maybe there are less tourists, but maybe more heading your way.

All tourists welcome.. :) :y

However , the tourism revenues take a small portion in total.. and another problem is those touristic hotel owners have a bad habbit of not paying any tax.. dont ask me how.. :(

funny it may seem , I , as a govt worker pay more tax than most of big shops in expensive commercial zones >:( >:( >:(

Best of luck, I have been through 8 rounds of redundancies plus site closures in the last 7 years.

I assume 'scotch' will now be made in China or eastern europe then?

You would think.
However, Scotch can only be referred as such if it is made in Scotland, anything else is just whisk(e)y.

JW was originally made in Kilmarnock in 1820. It has been made there since then.

End of a legacy then!

Oh well, we wouldn't want to stand in the way of (money grabbing shareholders) progress.

Would we?

This is not progress..means only selfish money makers more profit..

everything has an origin..if you try that in another place it will be just a "copy"..
