Wednesday night I went to restart my PC from windows (XP Pro) and it just shut down. Started to use the PC last night (had been on all day, screen was blank, wingled the mouse, PC back to life and the hard drive was fairly active, thought nothing of it, thought it might have been an update or something. this went on for ages so I went for the restart option.
Shut off but never came back on, checked the PC was on but that was it, tried 2 or 3 times, still the same. Unplugged it from the mains, went off and had my tea, an hour later, plugged in, switched on, HD light working as normal, but noting what so ever on the screen. So no OOF for me last night.
Today looked arround for a spare PC, found 2 P4's (2.4 Compaq Evo and a Medion 2.5) but both need the network setting doing and I cant be rsed.
(One for TB new) Found a Quibic cube case, this has been brilliant over the years and never had an issue with it - till this morning that is. Booted it up and it stated to beep. (expected a flat cmos battery anyway) checked the vid card, no difference, lifted the ram and reseated it and am now online.
Little XP2600+, 256 mb of ram and a 120gb HD. Plus an MX440 AGP card.
Bit on the noisy side as I have the fans set on fullspeed all the time at the moment as they have an extra side fan.
Worst thing though was going back to my Dell 19" monitor as my Dell 24" WS only has the DVI connected to it. Cant complain at the moment though.
Need to suss out whats wrong with the other one now, and put some time towards beilding its replacemt, just one more part to arrive, assing it doesnt need a new video card.
