Apparently, the BBC article is based solely on a press release from the Met Office which, in turn, is based purely on a new "Review" of existing papers. This new review is only available to academics. One poster on another forum is such an academic and I quote his remarks here:

"I'm currently working through the Met Office paper line by line.

Someone kill me now please. The Met Office's new "research" is based on Mann's hockey stick. FFS!"
