Has the club ever thought of opening a JUSTGIVING site so that if a member does good deeds for another then they can contribute into a good cause.

I am a member of BOFA4x4 and we raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Over the last 3 years we have raised approx £20,000 pa, from just organising events and selling things and putting a small percentage into the funds.
And another club I am in raises for Air Ambulance.

Just a thought it could be a good incentive for people to contribute and donate and raise awareness of the club.

We just put the link in our signatures so others can give if they require, also if you are a UK tax payer you can also elect GIFTAID and get the government to put 22% in of your donation aswell ;-)

Our page so far from March :- http://www.justgiving.com/teambofa4x4-2011

Or the main Site :- http://www.justgiving.com/

Might be a noble enough idea S but surely it would place additional burdens on the site administrators who seem to give a fair amount of their free time to run things as they are.

You don't need to do anything, it is automatic.

You set up a charity that you want to pledge too.

You then set a target or end date, and the Justgiving site sort the transfer out to 'said' charity automatically.

I must be getting confused with this part S;

If the club you refer is the OOF, who here would open that site or links to it and ensure the bona-fides of it, or links to other such sites?

The fact that a varied membership such as the one seen on here would, in all probability, have very different views on just what had merit to be honoured in this way holds potential for causing some level of dispute within the membership that would require adjudication by the administrators at some point.

I would have thought that if a member helps another out in the way you discuss and feels the need to show appreciation - if no money changes hands for the deed done - then the best way of showing that appreciation is to thank the member concerned in the relevant topics section and buy something from the OOF shop, which I believe helps with the running of the site.
