The model that was outside Heathrow is now at the Brooklands museum, by the way. Keep meaning to pay a visit there.

There's a good rolling road and the track, there, too .. perhaps we should have a combined planes/trains/automobiles themed meet there (minus the trains part) ;)

There isn't going to be many if any British icons left soon. i think there will be a 100Ft For sale sign up at dover soon One country  :"Many careless owners" Some service history selling for parts or repair  ;D
I wasn't particularly impressed that the A380 replica had to be made in California!  Our subsidised film industry could have knocked something up?

They do a 'trip' in Concorde . You start in the airport bus, give you some spiel about the aircraft, then you go for a tour under the aircraft and spiel on the undercart etc....then up the steps and into the aircraft, culminating with sitting in the front section, whilst they play a video with chat by the pilot, and then a simulated flight.
It cost £4 for the 'Cocorde Experience'. Nice little museum, with goodies like sitting in cockpits of VC10, etc.
Next door is the Merc speed/water track.
Good place to visit if you like car museums and Aircraft.
Not a big place but adequate. Some of the old Brooklands track is still visable.

Don't think I've been for 10+ years but I liked the way bits of old junk were lying around, especially in the hangar with the test chamber and wind tunnels. Bits of old Merlin engine and wind tunnel models, etc. Think there was an old glider de-rigged and dumped in the corner. Hope it hasn't been too "Disneyfied" since then. I like museums where I have to have a bit of a rummage rather than have some glossy "experience" foisted upon me.

If this is realized it will be yet another gutless act by those in a country where heritage seems to be a dirty word and and the worship of money means all. [smiley=thumbdown.gif] [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

there's too many in business nowadays who know the price of everything and the value of nothing, Zulu  :(
