Nice run out today
« on: 25 May 2011, 23:44:11 »

Fine wee drive today.  5 and a half hours or so, from the sticks of Fife to the sticks of Sutherland (virtually John O'Groats) via the always unpredictable (traffic wise) A9.  North of Inverness its a challenge if you get stuck behind a tractor or slow moving heavy.  Fine scenery though.

Passed assorted distilleries - Glenmorangie, Dalwhinnie, to name but two - so lets see what samples appear at the Lakes.

Anyone else been anywhere nice recently?   :-?

Had a fairly nice run across country to a training ground near Thetford on Monday to drop my mate off but nothing else exciting at the moment ::)

A nice run, hmmm. With the price of petrol these days, and living in the south, that hasnt happened for a while.

So looking forward to completing the LPG and doing just that, for fun, off into the country somewhere.  :y

Had a few days running around Wales the weekend before last with the kit car group I belong to.

Westfield is currently in dry dock waiting for parts so Emma's MX5 was called upon, and did an admirable job keeping up with the kit cars, although it ended up getting driven at ten tenths all weekend to do so, poor thing (I think it loved it really ;)).

Must download the contents of my camera but here's a picture from one of our fellow tourers to set the scene:

A good selection of cars: Caterhams 7's, Westfields, DAX Rushes, a TVR Tamora, 4 or 5 MX5s , a fisher Fury and a Caterham 21. Oh, and, very briefly, a Ferrari 275GTB :-*. He was sensible enough not to mix with us on to road but to turn up at the hotel to allow us some druelling time.

In the background you can see our mobile workshop / recovery vehicle. Only one customer this year (Caterham cam belt failure).

When we were touring Scotland last year I passed 4 distilleries to see the truck in the car park. Guess we didn't keep them busy enough with breakdowns then either.

Just been out for the day to Malaga. Came back the (very) long way through the Guadalhorce valley, El Chorro (where the Kings way footpath is that was a topic here recently). Past the lakes. Lovely empty drivers roads. Did about 150 miles.

Beautiful day, blue skies, 27Deg C. Air con is Kaputt and couldn't have climate on as that causes water leakage! Got to investigate that when it cools. probably yet another hbv.

Tried to encourage a nice elderly Yorkshire couple with a 97 RHD spanish reg 2.5 diesel auto Omega to join OOF. He bought it the same time as I bought my 97. Same colour, same mileage too. He had to have his gearbox sorted in Italy at a big cost.

Back to the grindstone tomorrow! :'( :'(
