this isn't the same Lord Turnbull who's a highly paid member of Nigel Lawson's shady, secretly funded (by whom we wonder?) Global Warming Policy Foundation think tank is it?

I think we should be told  :o ::)

neither of you could have a problem with that, surely?  ;)

The GWPF is funded entirely by voluntary donations from a number of private individuals and charitable trusts. In order to make clear its complete independence, it does not accept gifts from either energy companies or anyone with a significant interest in an energy company.

Thought you might like to know that Banjax. ;)

Oh, and Lord Turnbull is not paid by the GWPF - none of the trustees are. Indeed the total income of the GWPF in the 2009-2010 financial year was a mere £503,302.

Compare that figure with the huge amounts that WWF (9m euros from the EU alone in 2009), Greenpeace and Oxfam have to play with.  :o :o

Irrespective of the debate about the credentials of Lord Turrnbull I do think it wise to be aware of whatever is happening to the planetary weather systems and how it may change our ability to survive and prosper in the future.

The difficulty in this whole issue - for me at least - is how science, or in some cases pseudoscience, has been held as a talisman for governments and vested groups to push an agenda that will ultimately alter how each and every one of us lives our lives in the coming years.

Supposedly ‘settled’ science has been fallen upon to justify proposals for far reaching changes to individual civil liberties and immediate changes to the way we must pay for our energy.

It hasn't escaped my notice that the most vehement proponents of the idea of controlling energy use by financial penalty or rationing are the very people who will be least affected by these blunt instruments.

The environmental levy being built into energy bills at the moment should be a wakeup call to everyone - such measures have been adopted without open debate and are tantamount to an additional tax on us for simply having the temerity to breathe in an attempt to live out our lives howsoever we choose.
