Interesting, although think our is earlier than both yours?  2000?

Mines a 2000 on an X, dads is 2001 on a Y.

Dads one was never garged until recently, think mine was by its previous owner but generally mine was left outside too.

Did the HG on my dads 2.2, the plugs where bone dry.

Also mine *touch wood* has never done it either, and my scuttle is far from perfect nick...

OK, this is a W.

Gonna put it back together in a bit, if it runs ok, I'll send her off for a drive.

New battery to go on, and Wipers to seal tonight.
Will also check the airfilter is nice and dry  :y

Is it worth spraying anything with WD40 before it goes back together?

When doing the Senny plugs, we put bit of wd40 on the plugs. Forget the reason why, think its cleans them up?

It smoked like a train for few miles but cleared up.

Was dryish, gave it a spray of wd40
Started and sounded perfect...
So off we went

2 miles or so, perfect, then EML :(
The jumping and farting
then Check Gearbox.

limped home, and taken apart again.
Think we have found the fault, just more thorough drying required.

Sounds like there's still water lying around, everything's fine until the engine gets up to temperature, then the water starts to vapourise and at that point it gets to places it shouldn't be and the misfire returns.

Jimbob drop AA a PM he had the exact same problem, he seal the base of his wiper blades with a special silcone thingy.

Seams to affect later facelifts, both mine and my dads have never had problem with water in the plugs.

Doesnt seem to effect mine.......but maybe, vx modified it by then?  :-/

Had another look (now ive finished work  ;D)

Wells still wet, drive obviously disturbed water.
Dried em out using a cut of piece of sythentic chamois, pushed in with a screwdriver  :y
CPP unit in a warm place, facing downwards.

All drying nicely, will test again tomorrow.

Found where the water is coming in....
The scuttle is in 2 pieces, where one bit overlaps as it drains into pollen filter area, water is tricking underneath and onto main breather pipe area.  Just need to dry and try to seal that as well.

Here's hoping that lot will fix it  :y

Jimbob, try cranking the engine with the coil plug assembly off, that should move things around without the need to re-assemble and drive.

A good question, cant see any water traces anywhere  >:(

We did have hours of torrential rain last night (some of which the car was driven in)

I've had this problem, it's the rubber seal at the bottom of the windscreen, it needs removing and sealing properly.

Found the leak, just need to seal it

All dryed out, did 40 odd miles today, couldnt get an EML however hard I drove it, So looks to be fixed  :D

Just the leak to sort at some point soon.

Rechecked codes, and developed a P1403 whatever that is, but running fine  :y

Thanks All!
