from what i can make out you have

1690      MIL/Engine fail (malfunction indicator lamp) this means you EML bulb was removed

0340       Camshaft sensor get this changed asap

I got both Cam sensor 0340 Crank Sensor 0335 on mine when the cam sensor went looks like your lucky only the Cam sensor code so looks like your car is saying Change My CAM SENSOR :)

0340 - CAM sensor, as suggested.  Change it with genuine item, and see what happens :)

As said. Replace it with geniune (ca £60) or Siemens (ca £24). Siemens is GM supplier so it's the same product. Dont go for any cheap Chinese "high quality product".

been quoted £48 at the dealer inc vat but have to solder my connecters on due parts update ???

The New Cam Sensor Has a 2.2 plug which is different to the 2.0 they should give you a pack with a new cam sensor and a new plug and lead with 4 metal connectors, cut the old cable and connect it all up, i asked them to add some shrink wrap for free as the metal contacts should not touch.

i now i'm going over old ground but , would i be right to assume when the eml flashes 10 times it means zero as a zero cant be flashed

just got my arse into gear and changed the cam sensor and all is working fine .
