thanks for info, i thought shell helix was good as it cost £59 with a £7.50 top up from vx main dealer(marshalls),i didnt pay tho ,can you recommend a good oil,i drive my cars hard but with respect,and lastly i did think of putting something round the neck of the oil filler tube but then i thought about the fire risk,can felt be safly used or should i try to get hold of a piece of fireblanket etc...ps,you have put my mind at rest as i keep thinking headgasket...cheers

go with Elite Petes recommendation - we all use vx semi   ervicing for me is maximum 3000miles for oil and filter chnge

I made a jacket out of felt to cover the rocker cover on a Viva I owned it stopped the mayo problem straight away, the person I sold it to left it on there and had no problems with it for the 4 years he owned the car. I also knew 3 other people who did the same thing with no problems. (firewise)
