Ignition switch help please
« on: 05 April 2008, 18:32:06 »

Last night disaster struck , the ignition switch packed up on my car . The key went in ok the lights all came on, on the dash  but the key had no spring back from engine start position . So I knew the contact block had failed .  Called out the AA but they could only send out an agent not a proper patrol  >:( When he eventualy turned up nearly two hours later I told him what the problem was and how to  get around it and that I just could not get the thing apart . I could not remember  how to get the terminal block off the back of the switch . I explained it again to him and told him what I needed . only to be told I was wrong and that the wiring was part of the switch and it all had to be removed from up under the dash  :o HE TOLD ME HE USED TO WORK FOR VX so he knew what he was talking about  ::) any after persuding him I knew what  I

Its not easy, you have to insert a screwdriver into the centre of the terminal block to release a catch that allows it to be removed.

Not as much as you would think, under 20 quid from memory.

It must've been a long while back. The switch was part of the wiring on my Manta.
