I'll forst clean out all the contacts, as you've said.  Yes, £50 vs 65 for recon is difficult, but we'll see.

Is it possible to remove the ecu without disturbing the modulator assembly or is it all done in one hit?

If that's the case, and I also need TB to Tech2 the bleeding, then I may as well just wait till I can book it into him.

Why would the Tech2 be needed to bleed the unit?

Most people (me included) that have done this job swap only the ecu - its an rsol of a job as its fiddly getting to & replacing the 6 torx bolts.

If you take the brake module off likely you will get air into system & some will end up in module.  To clear air from abs module you need to exercise it with Tech2 whilst bleeding or it won't shift - result spongy brakes!

Swapping ecu only does not affect hydraulics so no bleeding necessary.
