EML
« on: 15 September 2008, 14:29:36 »

Hello, after a bit of advice.
Second time I have done cam cover gasket on my car. Anyway since then I have has EML come on, done obligatory test & codes 17 & 31 are flashing. Prior to refit I made doubly sure nothing was snagged or trapped. Any pointers please. Could it be a bad connection and are the faults likely to be linked? There wew only 5 things I dosconnected whilst replacing both gaskets. They were, EGR valve, ICV, left hand cam sensor & I assume knock sensor( both those had connections onto the cable tray) and the injector loom.
As stated I did my best to check nothing was trapped. Worst thing is bloody smell of oil is back again.
Thanks in advance.

on the last bit, the oil smell can remain for a while as the old oil finds its way onto the exhaust,  so not to worry about that.  (Did you use genuine seals and sealant and torque it up correctly?

Is it just the old oil burning off the manifolds or can you actually see a leak again :-/

I know 31 is crank sensor. See no reason for that to have gone. I feel its linked to the other one. Have no idea what knock sensor is, maybe to do with emissions???

I am in Erdington btw

Any advice as to the fault codes please?
