hesitation on acceleration
« on: 22 September 2008, 14:44:25 »

i thought it was a misfire at first but not so sure now took it to wales 100 miles on the motorway its fine when your crusing but try to put your foot down to quick and it hesitates keep your foot down and it does clear up when the revs get higher,  its bad  to drive round town i am wondering if its a blocked injector, on tickover it sounds fine if you use the throttle gently its not so bad but put your foot to the floor and it starts hesitating its starting to bug me i put new plugs in it oh and its not as bad when the engine is cold any help would be great as i am ready to run it into a tree. >:(

Has it been serviced recently?  including air & fuel filter?

have you checked any of the spark plug wells for oil?

My sons w plate 2.5 had similar problem.  Engine hunting between tickover and 1500 rpm then seemed o.k.  Also sounded odd for first thirty seconds after starting and could smell petrol which is unusual on modern cars.  Turned out to be ignition coil block with side blown out.  £130.  Beware the guy told us there are 4 different types and 2 different sets of plug leads.  Real pain to get at.  Mounted behind heads/air intake and fixed to bulkhead.  Worth a look.

Crank sensor must be changed..

And as far as I can remember when I changed my crank sensor my hesitation was also lost..

For ICV its to the left of plenum on the passenger side

Have you cleaned the butterflies on the throttle body at the front of the engine?

Hi, I feel your pain ! I can't wait to see the results as I have exactly the same hesitation, but I did the paper clip test and it says there are no faults. I don't know what to do next, dealer told me it ws crank sensor so I've replaced the crank sensor and it is exactly the same as before.
 :( :-?
