You sure that you reconnected it up properly?
A real or 'cheapo TechII' will be able to read & reset the fault code once thereason for it throwing the fault has been corrected.

Where in the country/world are you?  ;)
If you update your profile, there maybe someone just around the corner who can diagnose for you. :y

You have an OOF neighbour & I just visit to work! ;D  :y  :y
And I also have a 'Cheapo Tech II' that is able to clear the fault once fixed.  :y

The airbag system will detect any interruption to related circuits (even with ignition off) and raise a fault. The only way to avoid this is to disconnect the battery before touching it.

I suspect the system now needs to be reset with a Tech 2 or, possibly a cheapo Tech 2.

does anyone know if it will be expensive to take the car to a diagnostics garage to have it reset?
will a normal diagnostics garage have one of these Tech 2 machines?

This will also happen if you turn on the ignition with the bag unplugged. This happened to me last year and luckliy mu local mechanic reset it with tech 2 for £5...

Other garages will have generic code readers, Tech II is generally the preserve of main dealers ..... unless you're a forum member with his own ;)  ;D ..... I had an airbag light on my lads Astra F turned off for £30, ut a dealer is likely to charge you more like £50
