2.0 auto power issue
« on: 05 October 2008, 19:21:06 »

hi all
any idea what would cause my 2.0 16v auto to sometimes feel like its losing power, mostly when pulling off. Hard to explain but makes a strange noise, almost like a sort of popping sound while it does it.If it helps the tick over is uneven, like its hunting a bit.
Any thoughts would be welcome.
Cheers
Forgot to mention theres an oily smell, seems to be a leak but no oil dripping onto ground!

sounds possibly like an ignition related problem, :-/ try checking the spark plugs, (gap, condition etc) if you have an ohm meter, you could see how much resstance you have in the HT leads, ( 10k ohms to every 30cm of lead)

Clean breathers, throttle body and most importantly the Idle Control Valve - there is a guide in the maintenance section.  Should sort out your problems.  Not a difficult job.
