fault code reading!

hi all, i have software for fault code reading, it works on my Range Rover and on a friends BMW but i cant get it to work on my Omega, do Omegas has a different protocol to others cars, makes?

If it is a generic OBD reader, then it only works on the drive by wire engines - 2.2, 2.6, 3.2

A paperclip is a good start for the older ones ;)

i dont have any problems  but i do have the software and just wondered if it would work! its a 2.5 V6, 1997...... not to worry.
